FPL — Team Planner Concept

Fantasy Premier League is one of the most played online games in the world — and a product I know well as a long-time player. Despite its popularity, FPL has no dedicated team planner — decisions are made across multiple screens, tabs, and third-party tools. This is a personal concept exploring what a purpose-built team planner for FPL could look like, designed entirely from scratch.

This project is entirely original — no official FPL design language or visual identity was used. Every screen, component, and interaction was designed from scratch in Figma.

Key decisions

Everything on one screen

FPL players currently juggle multiple screens and external tools to plan their team. I designed the planner so all relevant information is visible at once — no modals, no endless scrolling, no lost context mid-decision.

Richer player identification

Generic shirt icons and names aren't enough to distinguish players quickly. I introduced a combined player card showing photo, name, jersey, and team crest together — four signals at once, significantly reducing cognitive load during selection.

The transfer zone

Tracking transfers requires constant context switching. I added a persistent transfer zone directly within the main screen, so you always know exactly where you stand without losing focus.

Smart player search

Finding a player means scrolling through long, poorly filtered lists. I introduced quick search by name, position, or team — making selection faster for both casual players and serious managers.

Outcome

The result is a complete multi-screen redesign built around one principle: a player should never have to hunt for information when a decision needs to be made. Every feature added was in direct response to a friction point in the existing product — not decoration, but function. The project also served as a full Figma component system exercise, with nested, flexible components that allow any screen configuration to be adjusted instantly without breaking consistency.
